New mouse

Logitech now offers laser gaming mice with much higher resolution than the MX1000. The G5 laser mouse can be had for $51.84, but it's corded. The G7 wireless version I haven't found retail pricing for yet, but it has an MSRP of $99.99.

I had a cheapo wireless keyboard/mouse combo and the mouse had page forward and page back buttons on the sides, but because of the way I hold the mouse in my hand, almost every time I moved left or right, it would page back or forward. Needless to say, I switched back to my original Dell mouse, and now it's just collecting dust in my closet, lol.
