Jafo might still be "negotiating" with his rebellious computer, so I thought I would post this. If an admin wishes to delete it and replace with the official one, there will be no hard feelings. I just flat out couldn't wait

@Island Dog...

and I believe you missed mine...I am not going to pay $3,000 for a prebuilt system just to get a theme...but am willing to share what I might have for what I want.
on Jan 05, 2006
Actually, the point is you are a thief.
on Jan 05, 2006
Way to show off your immaturity Gregory, branding me a thief?? Who said I was stealing the theme? You come here to download themes, and share what you already have, or created...that's what I am asking for.

Grow up.
on Jan 05, 2006
Do you share your Stardock account, too? If you have a "shared" account, it's theft.
on Jan 05, 2006
Gregory, I am not going to continue this pointless discussion with you. There are some obvious things I could point out about your viewpoints, but seeing as you'll get more of life's experiences soon enough, you'll probably be able to see from different viewpoints. Sharing, is what makes living better. There are some things you don't share, and there are things that you do share. Just because something is 'free' doesn't mean it can/or cannot be shared. On the same note, just because you've purchased something, doesn't mean you can't/shouldn't share that either. It's all on how you view who you are, what you stand for. No, I don't share my account, but I do share amongst my children the themes I get from this site on their computers. As I get better in my artwork, I will be sharing my valued time and effort with the good people here as well. What myself, and other artists here pay for in time, they share with you. But, like I said,....given time, you'll come to understand other viewpoints in life. Two things to help you on your journey. Don't judge people, judge yourself. And, the age old addage, 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all'.

Ask yourself this Gregory, do you keep everything you've ever purchased all to yourself, or are you guilty of sharing?

Hi,

Yes I found out that the other AlienGuise themes are available only upon purchase of an Alienware system. The purchase link refers to purchase other skins and such from The Skins Factory, the company that assisted in creating AlienGuise.

If you have any other questions or concerns just let us know.

When you install AlienGuise...and click on any other theme except Invader, is says "Click to Purchase".

How do you purchase these themes? Are they only available with Alien computers?
Response (Andres Matos) 01/04/2006 02:59 PM
Hello,

I can't locate the purchase link you mention. I believe they would only be available upon purchase of a system. Let me know.

The AlienWare theme manager only includes the Invader theme, with a purchase link for the others. My question is, how do I purchase the other themes? I wish to use them in WB format, and not with the AlienGuise theme manager, but WB5.
Response (Andres Matos) 01/04/2006 01:49 PM
Dear,

Thank you for corresponding with us here at Alienware. Please excuse us for not replying to you sooner!

You can retrieve other themes here: http://www.alienware.com/intro_pages/aw_wallpaper.aspx.

The Alienguise theme manager includes all the themes except the Star Wars theme, which is only available to customers that have purchased an Aurora Star Wars system.

If you have any other questions or concerns just let us know.

Thank you for your response.

However, the only theme available for free is the Invader theme. All the
others listed have to be purchased. Where do I purchase them from?

To whom it may concern,

I know you folks must get this alot, but how can I purchase the Alienware
desktop themes? I would like to buy Deskstar, and if possible, Star Wars.

Thank you.

Please take note of all the inquiries where I asked to BUY the theme. Enough of this Gregory.

Oh, and as a last note on the subject, since you brought it up:

From Webster's Dictionary:

Thief: one that steals especially stealthily or secretly; also : one who commits theft or larceny.

As a point of reference,

WinCustomize does not support requesting the sharing of files that have a restricted access policy established by the owner.

If you already have the knowledge from the artist/legal owner, and he/she/they have indicated that the artwork is available only under specific requirements, and those requirements do not include obtaining the artwork via online forums, e-mails, etc. - please do not then decide to request the artwork via WinCustomize forums.

on Jan 05, 2006

do you keep everything you've ever purchased all to yourself, or are you guilty of sharing?

Basically yes.  I paid several hundred dollars for Photoshop CS2, but I doubt that Adobe would appreciate me soliciting "sharing" of the software.  From the
e-mail you posted it states the theme is only available if you purchase an Alienware Star Wars computers.  That theme is not meant to be shared.

How does this apply to all the Vista look alike themes? Isn't any new theme based on Vista a property right infringement? I love what the artists have down with the new looks...but doesn't having a copy of that theme violate the EULA?

I am not going to argue about this, as it's obvious a double standard has already been implied.

MS has requested one theme be pulled already, and it was pulled from here, as well as other sites.

Clearly.

Certainly. WindowBlinds 5.0, and IconPackager 3.1 which I purchased using a credit card, who's receipts are tied into a single email account (my wife's work account). Her account here would show up as a "subscriber"...this one does not.

After seeing the possibilities of WB5, and all of Stardock's software for some time now, but being tied up with using Style XP for the first couple of years it was out, I decided that playing with that program has gotten me
extremely tired, and bored out of my mind sending in, and helping the author work out system bugs that were just getting worse with each new release. Anywho, to make a long story short, I came here under my original account
Morpheous416 to see what the artists here were doing with WB formats. I downloaded back then, the trial version of WB5 (the time in which I first registered here)...tested it out on several hardware configs, loved it...so I bought it.

Edit: By the way, I appreciate the polite request. Certainly better than being branded a thief without any foreknowledge of what's actually happening.
