Do you believe?

I don't want this to be a theological debate. I would prefer if it were kept very general and that we respect other's rights to their beliefs. That means no arguments. I am interested, though, in who believes in life after death. It doesn't have to be judaio Christianity. It can be reincarnation, ghosts, ...anything. Do you believe that there is something after our body passes on? You can just say "yes" or "no" or go into a bit of detail, but please stick to your own belief and don't criticize someone else's.

Do you believe?

I'd like to say I believe in life after death, but since I've yet to see any concrete proof of anything like this, I'll just say I like the idea of it. It would be nice to know that there is something better than what we have now. I was brought up a catholic when I was younger, but when I reached the age of reason I started seeing through the cracks of this kind of thinking or belief.

And let me clarify that these are my beliefs and I am not putting anyones elses down. I feel you should believe in what ever works for you and I'd fight for your right to do so, but for myself I need more than just blind faith. And since the pope rides around in behind bullet proof glass, I can see his faith is a little in doubt.

But the answer to this will only be found in the end when we all take the big dirt nap. When that happens, we will either see the light at the end of the tunnel, unless it just happens to be burned out, or we will just cease to be.

But its all about the journey...not the end.

I would like to think that there was some purpose beyond this mortal coil.
I was raised Catholic and from what I gather it's a contest for my soul between God and the devil. But I don't see the purpose of that.
As a teen I read the series "Incarnations Of Immoptality" by Piers Anthony. He described a system where God and Satan were trying to sort evil and goodness in chaos through a filtering process in people. Nice thought. But I can't buy it.

I hope for reincarnation. Let me take some of the lessons I learned in this like into the next and try to do better. Somelife later, I get to win the lottery and go to heaven. {I hope though, that after so many lives and so many lessons, heaven means less to me because I will have found happiness within.}

I mean yes. I believe in life after death.

No but if I'm wrong:-
They tell me there's only ever 2 things to worry about:-

If I'm happy or if I'm sad,
If I'm happy - then why worry,
If I'm sad there's only 2 things to worry about,
If I'm healthy or if I'm sick,
If I'm healthy - then why worry,
If I'm sick there's only 2 things to worry about,
If I live or if I die,
If I live - then why worry,
If I die there's only 2 things to worry about,
If I go to Heaven or if I go to Hell,
If I go to Heaven - then why worry,
If I go to Hell - I'll be so darn busy shaking hands with old friends, I won't have time to worry.

We are just stardust, part of this great chemical soup called expanding universe. We are born from stardust and then disappear into it.

All other conceptions and pre-conceptions are part of the human psyche used by each individual to survive.
on Mar 16, 2005
Yep, I believe in life after death.
on Mar 16, 2005
We are already dead. No. We are figments or possible fragments of thoughts. We are just manifestations of a great Universal head and that head is dreaming us up. Say......Old Crab is a consciousness or id of a underdone potato and Jafo is a nightmare id of never to eat an under done potato again. Etc. Hmmmmm.....Deja Vu we've had several discussions like this before! WOW! Deja Vue we've had several discussions like this before....!

Grand Raspberries to all and to all a good night......or whatever.......!

to be or not to be ... that is the imortal question........ i will say i believe there is something more ..they say we have only tapped 10 percent of the minds capabilities .. so maybe we will figure it out yet...

This quote is for those of us counting calories & carbs, measuring cholesterol, walking/running miles a day,
having plastic surgeries & liposuctions, taking vitamins and tons of other meds...etc....trying to take a few steps without breaking toes, legs, knees or worse... worrying about stress (?) All the things we do to keep our bodies healthy...

"Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved
body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting
"...holy cow...what a ride!"

"Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the light side of life.
[whistling]

If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle. That's the thing.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the right side of life,
[whistling]

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...

Always look on the bright side of death,
[whistling]
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
[whistling]

Life's a piece of shit,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke. It's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the right side of life.
[whistling]"
